Why do I have to apply and why should I apply?

How much experience do I need to do this?

We include an application process so we can get a better sense of who you are, your experience in the water, and to help foster a positive group that will mesh well together. As much as this is about you and your experience, it is also about meeting new people and experiencing an incredible place as a team.

We recommend all who are interested in this retreat to have at least an extreme comfort in the water, whether that be through experience swimming, or snorkelling. You do not need to have a freediving certification to take part. If you have very little experience or if you struggle to swim, this is likely not for you.

What's not included?

What's included in this retreat?

Transportation or air fare to and from Toronto Pearson (YYZ).

Alcohol and specific snacks.

Lunch on arrival day and dinner on the last day.

Travel insurance.

Special Considerations: If you have any dietary restrictions please let us know in advance and we will accomodate to the best of our ability.

Included is the experience of freediving under ice, meeting new people, and seeing new things. If you're flying in to Pearson Airport (YYZ), or you're in the Mississauga/Oakville regions, we will pick you up and transport you to the cottage and back. You're also free to get to the cottage yourself if you wish. This is recommended if you want to spend more time up there after the retreat is over.

All main meals will be provided.

If you need gear, we can accommodate with rental suits, gloves and fins at no extra charge, although it is highly recommended to bring your own gear if possible.

What gear do you recommend to bring?

What is your cancellation policy?

If you should wish to cancel the event and/or wish to withdraw from the booking made for any reason, the 30% deposit will not be refunded.

Once you pay for the rest of your trip you can receive the following refunds on the rest of the tripĀ (deposits not included):

More than 60 days before the trip = 100% refund.
Between 60 and 30 days before the trip = 50% refund.
Less than 30 days before trip departure = 0% refund.

We desire to create a retreat that people are committed to and so with that comes a concrete line on how we deal with cancellations.

We recommend you to bring warm clothes, winter jackets, hats, gloves, scarfs, and warm winter boots if you want to do some hiking. We also recommend you to bring your own towels if possible.

As for diving gear, we recommend a 7mm wetsuit, 5-7mm gloves, 5mm socks, fins, mask, snorkel, weight belt, and weights.

What about COVID and how will you handle that?

In order to keep everyone safe from COVID we will recommend the use of masks, and distancing during the trip. Of course, this will be hard to do in reality and we all assume the risk by participating. Depending on the group comfort level, we may decide to require a COVID test prior to the retreat to ensure all are negative.

If the Canadian government closes borders and/or restricts business operations the trip may need to be postponed to next year. This specific retreat would be postponed to February 16 - 20, 2023.
